The book centres round a little orphaned girl (the tome raider of the title) and her adventures in Nazi Germany with the grim reaper as the narrator. The writing’s got a flavour of Gunter Grass but the characters are less embroidered, with everything being crystallised in sparse n beautiful words – not my usual reading matter but the storyline makes for a real page turner so far.
As yet, no parchment scribbles - but i been quite partial to faux antique via used teabags...
